'Why, SHE, of course,' said the Dodo, pointing to Alice with one finger; and the whole party at once crowded round her, calling out in a confused way, 'Prizes! Prizes!'
Alice had no idea what to do, and in despair she put her hand in her pocket, and pulled out a box of comfits, (luckily the salt water had not got into it), and handed them round as prizes. There was exactly one a-piece all round.
'But she must have a prize herself, you know (но она сама должна получить награду, знаете ли),' said the Mouse.
'Of course (конечно же),' the Dodo replied very gravely (ответил Додо очень серьезно). 'What else have you got in your pocket (что еще у тебя есть в кармане)?' he went on, turning to Alice (продолжил он, поворачиваясь к Алисе).
'Only a thimble (только наперсток),' said Alice sadly (грустно сказала Алиса).
'Hand it over here (давай его сюда; to hand over — передавать),' said the Dodo.
Then they all crowded round her once more (тогда они все столпились вокруг нее еще раз), while the Dodo solemnly presented the thimble, saying 'We beg your acceptance of this elegant thimble' (когда Додо торжественно преподнес наперсток, говоря: "Мы просим тебя принять этот изящный наперсток"; to accept — принимать, брать /предложенное/; acceptance — получение, прием, принятие); and, when it had finished this short speech, they all cheered (и, когда он закончил свою короткую речь, все они зааплодировали; to cheer — приветствовать громкими возгласами и аплодисментами).

Alice thought the whole thing very absurd (Алисе показалось все это чрезвычайно нелепым), but they all looked so grave that she did not dare to laugh (но все они выглядели такими серьезными, что она не посмела засмеяться; to look — смотреть, глядеть; выглядеть, иметь вид); and, as she could not think of anything to say, she simply bowed, and took the thimble, looking as solemn as she could (и, так как она не смогла придумать ничего, что бы сказать, она просто поклонилась и приняла наперсток, /стараясь/ выглядеть так серьезно, как она только могла).
