Our voyage went very well until a wild storm drove us off course when we were north-west of Van Diemen's land. The storm left twelve of our crew dead and the rest extremely weak. On November 5>th, the beginning of summer in that part of the world, the wind was so strong that we were forced onto a rock. The ship immediately broke up.
