Модный художник Френк Майлс (George Francis Miles; 1852—1891), двоюродный брат близкого друга принца Альберта Виктора. Ранее служил в одном полку с братом Монтегю Друитта. В конце 1880-ых арендовал квартиру на Тайт-стрит по соседству с О. Уальдом, куда часто приглашал лондонских проституток в качестве натурщиц. Несмотря на отсутствие веских доказательств, Ф. Майлс довольно долго считался главным подозреваемым.
История Д.-П. породила целое направление в искусстве и массовой культуре. Сэр Артур Конан Дойль даже сочинил женского двойника Д.-П. – Джилл-потрошительницу. Поводом послужил реальный случай, произошедший в октябре 1890: некая акушерка Мери Пирси (Mary Pearcey) зарезала жену своего любовника и их ребенка.
